Meet the New Co-Chair for the Practice Transformation Committee (PTC)

CTC-RI welcomes our new Co-Chair for the Practice Transformation Committee, Sarah Fessler MD.

Dr. Fessler has been a practicing family physician at East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) in East Providence, RI since 1994 and has been the medical director of the health center since 2001.  Dr. Fessler has a special interest in helping patients achieve self-management of chronic diseases.  She practices a full spectrum of family medicine from infancy to geriatrics.  She enjoys office procedures and the connection she can make with patients who make EBCAP their medical home.

Dr. Fessler received her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1991.  She then completed her Family Medicine Residency at Memorial Hospital of RI.  She is a clinical assistant professor of Family Medicine at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University.  She presently serves as the President-elect of the Rhode Island Medical Society.

Sarah will assume Co-Chair responsibilities effective December 2016 and she and Charlotte Crist will help lead the CTC transformation efforts.  Special thanks are extended to Joanna Brown MD who has provided state-wide leadership for practice transformation and been Co-Chair for the PTC for the last three years. .

The Practice Transformation Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at RIQI from 7:30 to 9:00 and aims to   supports practice transformation through conferences; convening  best practice learning collaborative sessions and  with deploying resources to practices such as practice coaching, NCM training and NCQA application assistance.
