Frontline RI Primary Care Provider Survey Results: Impact of COVID-19

Recently, Rhode Island primary care providers (39) began participating in a national survey conducted by the Primary Care Collaborative and The Larry Green Center. This survey solicits voluntary, confidential feedback from frontline primary care clinicians on their experiences with COVID-19. Recent national survey results that include RI data are available by clicking here. Outlined below is a summary of RI clinician feedback: 

  • 87% of RI providers reported that they were experiencing high to severe strain on their practices due to COVID-19;
  • 89.7% indicated the need to limit RI well/chronic care visits and 82.1% were experiencing an overall decrease in RI patient volume;
  • RI clinicians indicated that most office visits/contacts were made via telephone (84.6%) and video (38.5%);
  • RI providers communicated a "shockingly high increase" in pre-existing mental health conditions (20.5%); and lost employment (25.6%).
