March Breakfast of Champions: Weight Management and Advancements in Obesity Treatment
On March 10th, 2023 at 7:30am, 90 individuals attended CTC-RI’s quarterly Breakfast of Champions Meeting which focused on weight management and advancements in treatment in obesity, including new medications and community based interventions.
Panelists included Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, FOMA, Chief Medical Officer, KnownWell and Stephen Kogut, Ph.D., M.B.A., Professor, URI College of Pharmacy. CTC-RI’s Linda M. Cabral, M.M., Senior Program Manager facilitated the discussion. A key message from Dr. Angela Fitch was “Obesity is a chronic, treatable disease…and it is important to personalize the treatment plan for optimal outcomes using shared-decision making tools”.
The panel presentation included the following reactants: LouAnne Giangreco, MD FACEP, Senior Medical Director-Medical Affairs, BCBS, Susan Andrews, MD, Medical Director, General Dynamics Electric Boat and Sarah Hagin, PhD, Director, Feeding Program, Hasbro Children's Hospital who shared their perspective on weight management in pediatric and adult populations. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the latest medications and strategies for shared decision making.
