Clinical Strategy Committee Focuses on Data Integration

The December Clinical Strategy Committee (CSC) concentrated on national and statewide data integration strategies. Two experts presented on how to use data to inform population health and deliver actionable information to providers. Craig Jones, MD conveyed the national primary care transformation perspective, Data Integration Use Cases and Implications for RI, and Neil Sarkar, PhD, MLIS discussed opportunities for RI including CurrentCare Upgrade and Opportunities for Data Integration. Andrea Galgay, MBA moderated the discussion looking at how to leverage health information technology to improve clinical care, reduce health disparities, and reduce unnecessary utilization.

The January CSC meeting, will feature Ena Backus, MPP, Director of VT Health Care Reform and Vicki Loner, MS, CEO of OneCare Vermont who will discuss the development of the single statewide accountable care organization in Vermont and consider implications for Rhode Island. Katherine Howitt, MA, Director of MA Medicaid Policy Institute, BCBS of MA Foundation will present on developing primary care capitation for pediatric patients and present information on a recent report from the Center for Health Care Strategies and the BCBSMA Foundation: Value-Based Payment to Support Children’s Health and Wellness: Shifting the Focus from Short-Term to Life Course Impact.
