CTC-RI Call to Action: House Budget Cuts to the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner

CTC-RI is very concerned about the cuts made to OHIC's staffing in the budget passed by the House Finance Committee last week. OHIC's support for Rhode Island's primary care infrastructure is crucial to building a strong primary care foundation in Rhode Island.  We will be at risk if proposed budget cuts are made and we lose the nine staff members whose jobs are cut. Please click here to see the embedded fact sheet for additional detail on OHIC's impact and the potential impact of these cuts.

Here is what we are asking you to do:

Please call Speaker Mattiello's office at 401-222-2466 as soon as possible - but definitely by Wednesday, June 15th at 3:00pm.  During business hours, you'll talk to the person who answers the phone, and you can say: "I'd like to leave a message for Speaker Mattiello. My name is _____.  Please restore the nine staff people to the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner.  As a physician, this office is crucial to our work to build up Rhode Island's primary care infrastructure.  My phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx."

After business hours, you should be able to leave a voicemail with the same message.

Please use your title and feel free to share your practice name.  If you have time to make a second call, please call your own State Representative.  If you don't know who your Representative is or how to find them, click here: https://sos.ri.gov/vic/. You can leave the same message.

Thank you!
